UNDER 10's Blaze of Glory
It is with pride that we start this first edition with some great news! On Saturday 10th March '07 our under 10's football team took part in a mini football tournament at Dubai Men's College.
We faced a tough task with over 10 teams competing and by the fact our young Barclays IFA team had just been created the previous week. Most of the boys didn't know each other as they trained at different locations.
However, after a tense opening 1-1 draw and an undeserved defeat in the second game things were not looking promising but in true Barclays IFA spirit the boys never gave up and managed to battle to the final and after taking a 1-0 lead we thought they had done it! Not yet. With the last kick it was all square. 1-1. No! Extra Time. Penalties...
Coaches Sean and Rashid looked more nervous then the kids! Penalty after penalty went in but at 7-7 we had our chance. Young Nathan stepped up for the all important winner! If he scores we win. As cool as you like he beats the keeper sending him the wrong way. Champions.
The under 10's Arabian Ranches Team took home the trophy and medals with beaming grins! And as if that wasn't enough, young Wassim also took the "player of the tournament" award which was fantastic considering the talent that was on show. Well done boys, you have done yourselves and Barclays IFA very proud!
